Focus Group Held Within the ENPOWER Project: Smart Governance As A Response to Energy Poverty

Within the framework of the ENPOWER project, a focus group titled “The Importance of Smart Governance in Alleviating Energy Poverty: Between Technological Solutions and Inclusive Public Policies” was held as part of the case study “Energy Poverty and Socio-Economic Aspects.”

The aim of the focus group was to examine key challenges related to energy poverty through an interdisciplinary dialogue, as well as to explore opportunities for its mitigation through the application of smart technologies, efficient resource management, and the development of inclusive public policies that respond to the needs of vulnerable social groups.

The focus group brought together representatives of the public sector, academia, private companies, and non-governmental organizations, enabling a comprehensive approach to the topic and an exchange of diverse perspectives and experiences. A special contribution to the discussion was also provided by ENPOWER project partners from Tilburg University who participated online. Prof. Asel Doranova presented international experiences and examples of good practice in the field of smart energy governance and policies aimed at reducing energy poverty, emphasizing the importance of integrating technological innovations with socially sensitive approaches.

The conclusions of the focus group highlighted the need for stronger cooperation between the public, private, and civil sectors, as well as the importance of developing policies that simultaneously promote energy efficiency, digitalization, and social inclusion. The insights gained will be used in further research and analytical work within the ENPOWER project, with the aim of developing sustainable and applicable solutions to alleviate energy poverty.
