ENPOWER Signs MoU with Herceg-Bosnia County for Energy Innovation

31.1.2025. In the premises of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Banja Luka – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Government of Herceg-Bosnia County (Canton 10) – Ministry of Economy. The memorandum was signed by Professor Dr. Aleksandar Milašinović, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Minister Miroslav Jaglica in front of the Ministry of Economy of Herceg-Bosnia County. One of the main purposes of this Memorandum is to establish an institutional framework for cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of Herceg-Bosnia County and the University of Banja Luka – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with the aim of implementation of pilot and field activities of the ENPOWER project as well as:

  • Joint development and research projects: Development and implementation of joint research projects in the fields of mechanical engineering, energy, mechatronics and new technologies, with a special focus on applied research practice and industrial applications.
  • Support to the economy in areas of interest to the Ministry of Economy of the Herceg-Bosnia County that are within the area of ​​expertise of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Participation in cross-border cooperation projects and other projects funded by the European Commission or individual donors in areas of interest to the contracting parties.
  • Organization of joint conferences and workshops.

Members of the “ENPOWER” project team are actively working on defining a case study that will deal with the problem of energy poverty in rural areas through the integration of renewable energy sources.

On Friday, 31.1.2025. final year students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering presented their works within the course Experts in teamwork. The theme of the project work was smart and sustainable agriculture with the integration of solar energy as a renewable source. The students’ presentations were attended by Minister Miroslav Jaglica in front of the Ministry of Economy of the Herceg-Bosnian County. In this way, we connect the creative solutions of our students with the needs on the ground of Herceg-Bosnia County and beyond. Also, we open the possibility of students’ participation in the implementation of ENPOWER project and that some of their ideas can be realized in practice.
