The Global Netnography Conference (NETNOCON) 2026 will take place in Izmir, Türkiye, from 17-19 June 2026, bringing together researchers interested in digital culture, participation and qualitative methods. The conference programme includes Parallel Session 3, titled “Platformed participation through affordances, narratives, and public engagement,” where the ENPOWER paper will be featured on 17th June. The paper, “Netnography for Citizen Engagement in European Union Energy Initiatives”, featuring evidence gathered from ENPOWER, reflects one of the project’s core priorities: understanding how citizens engage with energy-related initiatives and how those interactions can support more inclusive, better-informed energy transitions. At NETNOCON, the ENPOWER consortium will help bridge how digital platforms shape participation and how energy initiatives can better connect with citizens in everyday settings. By bringing netnographic evidence into a discussion on public engagement, the paper adds a practical, research-based layer to ENPOWER’s wider effort to design energy solutions that are not only technically sound, but also socially grounded and responsive to real-world needs.
