Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina — 20 June 2025
The International Scientific and Technical Symposium ENEF 2025 convened on 12th and 13th June in Banja Luka for two days of focused discussion on energy-efficient building, electro-energy systems, heating, cooling and air-conditioning, and the transition to renewable energy sources.

ENEF was organised by the University of Banja Luka’s Faculties of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, with the support of the Republic of Srpska Association of Energy Workers. This year’s partners also included UNDP Bosnia and Herzegovina. More than 150 representatives from academia, industry, the public sector and international organisations in seven countries—including Norway, Serbia and North Macedonia—took part.
ENPOWER Project in the Spotlight
Professor Petar Gvero presented the ENPOWER project to the symposium audience, highlighting its integrated approach to tackling energy poverty through applied research and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
On the second day, ENPOWER hosted a well-attended panel discussion on “Energy Transition and Energy Poverty.”

Earlier in the programme, ENPOWER researchers Milan Pupčević, Danijela Kardaš Ančić and Slobodan Peulić shared their latest findings, adding depth to the project’s mission.

Participants rated ENEF 2025 a resounding success, agreeing on concrete next steps to advance regional energy efficiency and accelerate the transition to clean energy.
