On 30.5.2025, at the premises of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka panel discussion on the topic “Energy harvesters for energy poverty solutions” was held аs part of the 17th International Scientific conference on Accomplishments in Mechanical and Industrial engineering – DEMI 2025.
Event was jointly organized within the framework of two international initiatives: the Horizon Europe-funded ENPOWER project, coordinated by the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and the ERASMUS+ project, coordinated by the University of Reykjavik (Iceland).
The panel brought together experts to discuss innovative technologies and sustainable solutions in the field of energy harvesting, with a focus on addressing energy poverty challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.
Moderators of the panel were prof. David C. Finger, PhD from University of Reykjavik Iceland and Danijela Kardaš Ančić, MSc from University of Banja Luka. The coordinator of the project “ENPOWER”, Prof. Petar Gvero, PhD, presented the concept of energy poverty and its connection with the energy harvesting. Professor Vala Hjörleifsdóttir, PhD and Bjarnhéðinn Guðlaugsso PhD, of the University of Reykjavik were among panelists sharing their knowledge and experience related to the energy harvesters research and implementation. Msc Milan Pupčević presented experiences and research related to the energy harvesters done at the Faculty of the Mechanical Engineering in Banja Luka.
The panel was attended by the Chairman of the Steering Board of the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Biljana Antunović, PhD, representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Srpska Olivera Radić, representative of the United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina Dejan Danilović, the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Darko Knežević, PhD, as well his Vice-Deans, Prof. Milan Kotur, PhD, and Prof. Bojan Knežević, PhD. Participants of the DEMI conferences from Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia and UK were also present, along with professors, assistants and students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Banja Luka.
The entire panel was assessed as very successful and further directions for action and activities were agreed upon.
